Reportedly, huge quantities of rice, sugar, salt etc were damaged in Golden Market and Super Market. Waters also entered in many kutcha houses causing great inconvenience to the dwellers. Many household properties were also damaged due to the flooding.
The under construction bridge over Sigin river to connect Polo Colony with Dili Di Colony and Sigum Rijo was also damaged by water. Fund for the construction of the bridge was managed by the local residents themselves in their own interest, told a resident. Many private flood protection walls were collapsed and damaged due to rain water.

Board gives top priority to health benefits
ITANAGAR, Jul 01: The Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Worker Welfare Board (APBOCWWB) largely focused on health benefits which were given to registered workers during its 15th Board meeting held here today. The board meeting was chaired by Chairman cum MLA Nyamar Karbak and attended by Secretary Ojing Darung, and other staffs including various stake holders. During the meeting, the board has decided to introduce Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablets for pregnant women of the board including registered workers and operation of smart card and ISO certification. In a release it said that board will provide IFA tablets to pregnant women registered with the board under proper medical guidance to all nursing mothers. The board also discussed other schemes for registered workers such as death, medical and education benefits.
Speaking in the meeting, Board Chairman, Nyamar Karbak appealed to all the members to participate in awareness camps as resource persons to guide the workers so that they may get benefits. Prospect of regularisation of board officers and staffs were also discussed during the meeting. The board members also warned of stringent action for the irregular staffs.

ITANAGAR, Jul 01: Claiming that heavy unprecedented rainfall had disrupted road communication between Poma to Basarnallo under Sangdupota, the All Sangdupota Circle Youth Association (ASCYA) in a release today appealed the local MLA to initiate early steps for immediate maintenance of the said road.
The ASCYA president Nabam Tahi in a letter today informed that culverts on the road, which is only 30Kms away from the Capital Complex has been washed away due to rainfall triggered landslides making it difficult to cross the road between Gohpur and Sangdupota. ‘The washing away of the road has been causing much inconvenience to the local people especially, during medical emergency and carrying of essential items like ration’, informed Tahi.
He also rued the absence of proper telecom services in the circle and appealed both the MLA and administration to address the issue at the earliest.

The remaining work will be completed within the stipulated period and cost as per the tender agreement, he said.
The scheduled time for completion of the work is December 30, 2016 as per tender agreement, the EE said.
Compensation sought for dead electrician
DAPORIJO, Jul 01: Tape Natam (42), a member of Tam Tadu Welfare Society (TTWS), who had been suffering from prolonged illness due to a massive electric shock he received in 2006 that almost disabled him, breathed his last on June 27, informed TTWS.
Reportedly, he suffered the electric shock when he came in contact with a live wire while performing duty as an electrician. He was the lone bread winner for his family and has left behind his wife, four daughters and two sons.
Meanwhile, the Society appealed to the power department to provide compensation to the bereaved family.
Relief materials distributed
SAGALEE, Jul 01: Utensils, raincoats and grocery items like sugar, tea leaves etc were distributed to the Jun 27th flood victims during a relief camp organised by the 15th Sagalee Assembly Constituency AYC here on Tuesday.
APYC General Secretary Nabam Nakam provided stationery items to 20 students who had lost their study materials in the devastating flood, which had displaced at least 10 families. The relief materials were sponsored by APYC president Nyamar Karbak.

In the meantime, several organizations of the state condemned illegal encroachment inside Arunachal territory and appealed the Assam Government to stop the construction of the beat house.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had rightly said the disputed area falls in the territory claimed by Arunachal Pradesh, which has been placed before the local boundary commission constituted by the Supreme Court and therefore is subject to final decision of the Court for final claim of ownership. Tuki had asserted that both the state governments have to maintain extreme caution to avoid any flare up of tension and maintain peace and tranquility in the area.

I would like to ventilate my anguish towards construction of Assam forest Protection Camp at Radhaso, Papum Pare. My question is why Assam govt is putting salt in the raw wound? Arunachalee never encroached any part of Assam nor constructed any kind of hut under their forest.

Misuse of CM universal Health insurance card
Dear Editor,
I want to throw some light on the exploitation made in the name of CM universal Health
Insurance in the capital city. My father-
I was upset to hear that but for the sake of humanity, I gave all the 5 cartoons of medicines. Later, some medicines were left with me which I decided to return to the pharmacist. But to my shock he refused stating that deduction in the card has already been done hence, cannot be taken back. When I returned back to the patient’s hall to complete the formalities of discharge, they informed me that it is a usual process. All indoor patients donate all their remaining medicines for the hospital use as the pharmacists refuses to take back.
Here I doubt foul play. The beneficiaries of CM universal Health Insurance are allotted a limited amount of Rs 2 lakhs only. Prescribing unnecessary medicines in bulk at the last minute of discharge and the attitude of pharmacies not to accept the unused medicines forcing the patients to donate the remaining medicines to the hospital unnecessarily increases the expenditure on the card. It is exploitation of the beneficiaries and a matter of great concern.
I wonder how many beneficiaries might have been exploited through such process. It
also makes us wonder about the possibility of mal-
I appreciate the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for bringing out this project which is a boon benefitting the citizens in the state and moreover a precious hope for the people living Below Poverty Line.
At the same time, I would like to appeal the state government and the authorities concern to check the matter at earliest so that such unsolicited act or leakage may be prevented and maximum benefits assured may be used to the optimum. If such exploitation is not checked, I fear even a minor illness may cost the entire assured sum at one go. So, I appeal every beneficiary of CM universal health insurance scheme not to use the card for minor illness as it will surely exhaust sum assured quickly.

ITANAGAR, Jul 01: The premier show of Apatani science fiction film ‘Diinsopping’ was held at Dree Ground, Ziro yesterday.
The shooting of the action packed film was done in a thick forest and its post production works like graphics, animation etc were done by Dani Rabin.
Though all of them are new and first timers, the production group members have done excellent job, be it in camera or post production works, which deserve appreciation from all.
The film tells story of a group of research students, who go to the Jungle to study Himalayan Reptiles. The land reptiles attack them in their camp in the jungle and they run for their lives. While chasing them, the herd of giant reptiles (Dinosaurs) enter into Apatani valley and destroy several establishments and kill some people. The administration then call the Air Force and ultimately the animals are killed in air strike. The film, which has been released for commercial show today, is expected to do good business.
The film is produced by Pura H Tabiyo and directed by Dani Raving. The main female and male are played by Pura Moniya and Purah Tabiyo.

Vermicompost answer to food insecurity: Wangsu
ITANAGAR, Jul 01: Vermicompost can be the answer in finding solution to food and financial insecurities looming large over tribal communities, said Kanubari MLA cum Chairman, State Council for Science and Technology, Gabriel D. Wangsu while interacting with a group of young entrepreneurs and leaders on Sunday last. Chief Minister’s Agriculture Mechanization Programme too cannot be complete without the popular use of vermicompost, especially by the local populace, he said. Appreciating local entrepreneur Ngunkhaw Ngandam for showing the way by setting up a vermicompost unit at remote Pongchau, bordering Myanmar, the MLA urged the educated unemployed to take up agriculture and horticulture seriously and boost production through massive use of the organic manure.

A good number of local public leaders and chiefs besides ZPMs Mitali Wangjen, Wangrang Wangjen and Jyae Wangsu who attended the meeting, also spoke and suggested strict measures to improve the condition of the school especially in disciplining the students.
Expressing grave concern over reports of vandalism and absence including social disharmony, they sought a total ban on social gathering and such other functions.
Amnesty slams India on AFSPA; wants probe on disappearances
In a report that called for an end to the use of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir, human rights group Amnesty International has released a detailed report on the basis of 58 case studies of alleged excesses by the armed forces in the State.
The report, which is likely to spark a strong response from the government, recommends that India withdraw AFSPA, turn over cases of alleged human rights violations and disappearances to civil courts, and invite the UN Special Rapporteur and the UN Working Group on disappearances to visit with “unimpeded access” to victims and witnesses.
“By not addressing human rights violations committed by security force personnel in the name of national security, India has not only failed to uphold its international obligations, but has also failed its own Constitution,” said Minar Pimple, senior director of global operations at Amnesty International, while releasing the report in New Delhi on Wednesday. “Impunity only breeds further violence and alienation, making it more difficult to combat abuses by armed groups,” he said.
The report — “Denied: Failures in accountability for human rights violations by security force personnel in Jammu &Kashmir” — suggests that the government has neutralised all the allegations with AFSPA’s Section 7, which allows the armed forces to kill anyone in the State on the basis of a mere suspicion.

PASIGHAT, Jul 01: The Sarvajanik Siang Aarti Mahotsav Committee (SSAMC) of Pasighat in
collaboration with Adi Baane Kebang (Woman) today launched a plantation programme on account of Van Mahotsava.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Nidhi Srivastava planted a Gulmohur sapling on the banks of Siang river and suggested the organisers to take proper care of the planted saplings to ensure survival. The programme was followed by cleaning in and around the Children Park and the river bank, where several hundred participants planted sapling of different species. Participating in the riverbank plantation programme, Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong underlined the need of plantation for livelihood management and mitigation of climatic changes. Stating that central government is putting special attention on cleanliness and promotion of greenery in the country, he appealed the civil society members to engage themselves in massive plantation activities to protect the local environment from degradation.
Pasighat DFO (T) Tabang Jamoh suggested the organisers to conduct mass awareness programme on the need of plantation and encourage the common people to plant trees.
Expressing his enthusiasm for public participation, SSAMC president, Makpak Peyang said that the massive plantation aims to protect the historical Pasighat town from the grip of mighty Siang river and to keep the area clean and green.
